Circa 1911 Hal Chase Photograph (PSA Type I)

Circa 1911 Hal Chase Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photograph of Hal Chase as a member of the New York Highlanders. Chase is pictured on the field at first base as he makes a throw across the diamond. Three Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with Chase's name and few editorial pencil notations. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here was worn by the Highlanders only in 1911. Chase, who ended his career with the Giants, was considered one of the finest fielding first baseman of his era, but his reputation for “throwing” games ultimately led to his being forced out of the Majors following the 1919 season. The photo (5x6") displays a small chip in the lower left corner, light-to-moderate creasing, and a small, circular stain in the upper left corner. In Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
