Circa 1912 Jim Thorpe and Louis Tewanima Real Photo Postcard - Ex Baseball Magazine Archive (SGC)

Circa 1912 Jim Thorpe and Louis Tewanima Real Photo Postcard - Ex Baseball Magazine Archive (SGC)

NOTE: This piece was previously thought to be of Thorpe and his Giants teammate Chief Meyer based on the writing on the verso by the braniacs at Baseball Magazine. This is actually Lewis Tewanima who joins his teammate. We believe they may have been on their way to Stockholm for the 1912 Olympics based on their clothing and dapper nature. SGC has since corrected the label.

The dapper duo of Jim Thorpe and Lewis Tewanima pose perhaps during the time of their stunning victories in the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm. Both competed at the Carlisle Indian School and coached by Pop Warner there as well as at the 1912 Olympic Games.

From the famed Baseball Magazine archive. This is the only such photo known to exist.
