Circa 1916 Casey Stengel Original Charles Conlon Glass Plate Negative

Original glass plate negative of Casey Stengel produced by renowned baseball photographer Charles Conlon. Stengel is captured as a member of the Brooklyn Robins while he takes a cut at the plate during pregame batting practice. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here was used by by the Robins only during the two-year period 1916-1917. Prior to becoming one of the greatest managers in baseball history, Casey Stengel enjoyed a fine fourteen-year Major League career (1912-1925), playing on four pennant winners and two World Championship clubs during that span. The negative (4x5") displays a small loss of emulsion in the upper right corner and is in Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
