Circa 1917 New York Yankees Team Original Glass Plate Negative

Circa 1917 New York Yankees Team Original Glass Plate Negative

Original glass plate negative capturing thirty members of the New York Yankees posing together, circa 1917. Included are manager "Wild Bill" Donovan, Hall of Fame third baseman Frank "Home Run" Baker, and Roger Peckinpaugh. Although no year is listed, Donovan was manager of the Yankees from 1915 to 1917, but Baker did not join the club until 1916, thereby dating the photo to the 1916-1917 time period. New York Yankees team images dating from this era are scarce and this is an outstanding example taken just a few years prior to Babe Ruth's arrival in New York. The negative (8.5x6.5") remains in Excellent condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
