Collection of Worch Tobacco Cards 100 Different Minneapolis Millers and St. Paul Saints

Collection of Worch Tobacco Cards 100 Different Minneapolis Millers and St. Paul Saints

Circa 1930s, Worch Tobacco cards are blank-back postcard-size photos measuring roughly 3.4 by 5.4" in size, with some having the background of the photo whited out. The photos used for the Worch cards are from two local Minnesota newspapers, the Minneapolis Star and St. Paul Dispatch. Cards were made of players from the American and National Leagues, and also from a couple of minor league teams from the American Association, including the Minneapolis Millers and St. Paul Saints who are the subject of the collection up for bid here. This lot is the largest collection of such Worch cards known, numbering 100 in protective plastic sleeves enclosed in a looseleaf binder. About 10% of the cards have some glue residue or paper loss, and several are creased. Overall, the cards are in excellent condition and the lot even includes the original mailing envelope from one of them. There are too many individual players to list here; call for a complete list. Some notables include Spencer Harris, Ben Paschal, Myles Thomas, Joe Glenn and Joe Hauser.
