Historic Military and Naval Anecdotes by Edward Orme (1819)
This engrossing view of the Great Wars from the British perspective is a total effort as historical documentation, mixed with a large dose of good old-fashioned self-effacing backslapping. Running the gamut from the troops bivouacing in the Pyrenees to Napoleon's bad day at Waterloo, this 1st edition (1819) rebound in Moroccan leather is spellbinding. Published in London and gloriously illustrated with forty hand-colored aquatint plates, this volume measures 12 x 14 1/2". Overall excellent condition, with minimal paper loss and slight foxing, it is a joy to take in and behold. Lord Nelson, General Picton and Sir William Ponsonby are all done proud with attestation to their valor on the sea and battlefields.
