Hughie Jennings Confers with the Umps Original Glass Plate Negative
Original glass plate negative capturing Detroit Tigers manager Hughie Jennings going over the ground rules with the umpires and team captains prior to a game against the New York Highlanders at Hilltop Park in New York. Although no year is listed, the uniform styles shown here by both clubs date the image to 1911. The negative (7x5") displays a few tiny areas of emulsion loss along the perimeter and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
