Ingemar Johansson "Kicked the Shit Out of Me" Letter
This original letterhead for the Patterson-Johansson III fight in 1961 has been signed by Ingemar Johansson under a typed note: "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: FRANK FINCH IS THE ONLY MAN WHO EVER KICKED THE SHIT OUT OF ME." Johansson may have been sensitive to the criticism over his dramatic stoppage at the hand of Floyd Patterson in their rematch in 1960 and decided to set the record straight. Either way, he lost again to Patterson in their third match in 1961. The letterhead exhibits some toning, creasing and edge wear. This is some rare emotion revealed by a world champion.
