Jack Dempsey's 1929 Crippled Children Trophy (19" tall)
Jack Dempsey is widely regarded as the first great American sports hero. In the height of his career, he was an even bigger media sensation than Babe Ruth. Presented here is a large silver cup, presented to him on October 22, 1929. This ornately engraved cup was presented to Dempsey by E.L. Jordan of the Elks Crippled Fund for his work on their benefit boxing show held in Springfield, Illinois and reads, “Presented to Jack Dempsey by Mr. E.L. Jordan in appreciation of his humanitary service in behalf of Elks Crippled Children Fund at the benefit boxing show, Springfield, Illinois. Tuesday, October 22, 1929.” Comes with LOA signed by boxing expert, Craig Hamilton.
