James Madison and James Monroe Signed Document
Unbelievable document is a ship’s passport signed by founding fathers, James Monroe & his predecessor, James Madison. Recovered from a United States Navy battle ship in the War of 1812. Largely a battle at sea, the U.S. ships were put to the test. We proved resilient and defeated the once invincible English Naval Fleet. Header of passport is a great Americana graphic of a large ship and lighthouse. Original folds with creasing and slight water staining. VG+, but paper quality is thick and durable. No tears. Measures 10x15”.
