Jim Thorpe 1913 World Champion NY Giants Oversized Press Photo
From his 1913 rookie season with the New York Giants, versatile legend Jim Thorpe is depicted in this incredible 17x14" photo. The first of its kind that we've seen, this Type III image was displayed where newspapers were sold, and the paper caption affixed to the verso blares, "Big Indian Thorpe Waved His War Club," above a description of the photo. Despite some bending at the corners, this remains a spectacular keepsake and baseball photos of Thorpe are rare because, as the caption indicates, despite being a "world's champion athlete," he was just trying his hand at baseball as a 26-year old rookie and played sporadically during his brief six-year career.
