John Adams Treaty of Paris Letter Written To His First Lady Abigail Adams

John Adams Treaty of Paris Letter Written To His First Lady Abigail Adams

"My Dearest Friend" this touching letter begins. Written December 24, 1782 from Paris, France. He is in France working on the Treaty of Paris, which would end the Revolutionary War and crown Adams' long struggle for American independence. Abigail has asked to come to him in France. He warns her of the danger and tells her he has decided this day to come home for his family and the "honor of our Country." Interestingly it is topped with a small printed oval image of Adams. Date of his birth and death are listed on the bottom, probably written about the time he died. One side of a slightly trimmed 7.25x8.25" sheet of paper. Some tiny wear to the edges and browning but the ink is in exceptionally beautiful condition. Light folds but the signature "J. Adams" is NRMT. Overall a truly moving piece.
