John Stephenson Transitional 1972 California Angels Jersey
1972 was the first year knits replaced flannels, yet this game-worn knit jersey still shows characteristics of flannel jerseys It's a great style overall (halo over the lower-case "a" in "angels" and halo-ed California state outline on the left shoulder) and shows tons of wear. The front of the button-down jersey has the number 37, as does the back. The only label is a Rawlings Size 42 inside on the flap. John Stephenson was a catcher with the Giants, Cubs and Mets before wrapping up his 10-year career with California. He is probably best known for making the final out of Jim Bunning's perfect game at Shea Stadium on Father's Day of 1964.
