Kid Nichols Hall of Fame Letter and Invitation (2) Induction
Two wonderful pieces from Cooperstown regarding his Induction to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. First is a typed letter dated May 13, 1949, from HOF Vice President Paul Kerr on Coopeterwn stationery “Please accept my congratulations on your election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.” It requests a “photograph that will show the details of your face since it is to be used for the preparation of a plaque to be hung permanently in Cooperstown.” Mounted on a scrapbook page it has a stain on the left side and mailing folds o/w EX-MT. Second is his actual 1949 invitation to the June 13th induction ceremonies for “The Unveiling of the Bronze Plaques.” Other inductees listed are (in full) Mordecai Peter Brown, Charles Gehringer, Herbert J. Pennock and Harold J. Traynor. Mounted on page o/w EX.
