Pair of Bronze Tennis Statues

Turn of the century vintage bronzes are the piece de resistance. These tennis players stand resplendent in gold leaf over bronze. The detail is tremendous from the definitive workmanship of their laced shoes and silk ties to their period tennis garb with trademark straw hats. Their motion is perfectly communicated by the artist form the flow of their limbs and the paralleled creasing in their clothing. Best of all, their faces and hands are in carved ivory and magnificent. The male stands 16.25”, and the female holding the ball is 17.75” tall with both on their original marble bases (7” diameter). Plaques in the font read, “Joueur de Tennis” along with “Par Kinsburger (Med. D’Or au Salon.” They are both artist signed on the base by “S. Kinsburger.” They are in beautiful condition with the only defects being a repaired thumb on the girl and tiny chip on the figure of the man. They are o/w EX-MT.
