Rube Marquard Rookie Era Original Glass Plate Negative

Original glass plate negative capturing Rube Marquard as a member of the New York Giants. Marquard is pictured warming up on the sideline prior to game, with several unidentified teammates seen in the background. Although no date is listed, the uniform style shown here was worn by the Giants only in 1909. Marquard's first full season in the Major Leagues was 1909, making this one the earliest images we have of the future Hall of Famer. The negative (7x5") displays small areas of emulsion loss along the perimeters and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
