Tennis Prints & Advertising Collection (50)
Fabulous collection of old and interesting prints related to the Game of Kings. Most of the better pieces are framed and sizes are for the prints themselves. The best of these pieces are listed here first: 1) 1885 Currier & Ives print entitled, “Lawn Tennis at Darktown.” Shows stereotyped blacks playing the game. By the master American printmaker. About 14x10”. 2) Two matching tennis etchings by noted New York illustrator Dean Roberts (Mrs. Stanley H. Wolcott). The first is entitled “Senorita D’Alvarez serves and numbered 15/75. The second is entitled “Low Volley” and is numbered 6/50. Both are signed by the artist and numbered in pencil. Each about 10x7.5”. 3) 1906 Harrison Fisher print (9x11”). 4) Spectacular color advertising print for “Albright College 1895” with Gibson Girl type tennis player. By “A. Hjalmar Enroth ‘10” in original frame (22x14”). 5) <i>Vanity Fair</i> prints (4): Michael Michailovitch (2), Arthur Wentworth Gore, Spy print entitled "Thrice Champion." 6) Masterful 1985 silkscreen of Martina Navratilova is numbered 184/275. Signed by “Martina” and the artist in pencil. 31x24”.
