Ya Gotta Believe that this 1973 World Series ring encased in Lucite is mahhhhvelous. Salesman's sample inside paperweight orb was one of a series of about 35 of these all different we obtained over 20 years ago. In NM condition it reads: "1973 NL CHAMPIONS METS" on the face, while the left shank reads "MAYS" above the team logo, and the right shank depicts Shea Stadium and a Mets cap. A marvelous memento from a memorable player and season. Led by Tug McGraw's famous battle cry, the 1973 New York Mets nearly staged the most improbable comeback in baseball history. Standing in last place heading into the last day of August, the Mets caught fire in September and won the Eastern Division crown with an 82-79 record. New York City favorite and baseball legend Willie Mays was closing out his career in the city where he started it 22 years earlier, and he saw his final team knock off the favored Cincinnati Reds in the NLCS and take a 3-2 lead in the Word Series against the dynasty known as the A's before dropping the final two games in ending the dream season.
