Wonderful 19th Century "Grand Stand" Baseball Tobacco Bucket - Only One Known

Wonderful 19th Century "Grand Stand" Baseball Tobacco Bucket - Only One Known

The only one known to still exist, this wooden bucket is complete with handle and lid and represents one way that tobacco was packaged and sold during the 19th and early 20th century. The bucket has a paper label on front that features a lithographed baseball scene from the 1890s, and though the paper label is fragile it is still almost completely intact. On the label is advertised, "Grand Stand Fine Cut," produced by the Vincent Brothers of Rochester, NY, and it bears the original tax stamps on the back side. While it rates in Very Good condition overall, it is hard to imagine that very item was created well over a century ago.
