1880s "Baseball Extra" Cigar Box

1880s "Baseball Extra" Cigar Box

A magnificent extremely early, cigar box, "Base Ball Extra" is engraved into the top with three different labels with amazing color graphics and 1880s equipment, catcher's mask, spiked shoes, baseball newspaper and incredible bats intertwined with a giant cigar. There are three different labels from this series, which we have never seen - all full color, one on the top, on the side, and inside the lid. The labels and box are 1880s but the tax stamp is 1910, though it was created earlier based upon the images and graphics of the labels. Very minor wear on this box, measures 8x5.25x2.25". From the finest collection of baseball and sports cigar boxes ever to be offered for public auction.
