1906 Charles Comiskey Silk Banquet Menu

1906 Charles Comiskey Silk Banquet Menu

This acted as a menu for a dinner in late November 1906 in St. Louis at the Southern Hotel. Gorgeous two-layered silk with tipped-in photo of the "Noblest Roman of Them All," NM. Although Hall of Famer Comiskey became the famous owner of the Chicago White Sox (infamous as the "Black Sox" for 1919), he spent the majority of his early career as the playing manager in the major league American Association with the St.Louis franchise - initially called the Brown Stockings in 1882, and then called the Browns. He even won four pennants with St. Louis and what was termed a World Series in 1886. "Commy" must have been popular there. The silk states that the banquet was "Tendered By His St. Louis Friends."
Size: E.S.
