Figural Knute Rockne and Alonzo Stagg Collection (6)
No college football coach ever posted a better winning percentage than Knute Rockne's .881 mark. Amos Alonzo Stagg won a ton of football games as well, while also developing basketball as a five-player sport. The two landmark coaches, who have five national titles between them, are celebrated in this stately lot of busts and statuettes. The Rockne bust by Nison Tregor is a diminutive, white-metal production piece dated 1931 and captures the Hall of Famer's essence perfectly. There are two perforations to the metal in the chest area. Stagg's "Grand Old Man of Football" doorstop bears an excellent likeness with the Grand Old Ma banner starting at a down marker and ending draped over a football. Other items include a pair of Rockne doorstops, one entitled "the Rock of Notre Dame" that is in EX condition, a small figural Bust made in 1931 as a commemorative (VG) and a standing figural chalkware piece with Rockne in full Notre Dame Uniform (repaired at neck).
