He’s gone on to a few other jobs, including his current one in the Bronx, but in St. Louis they’ll always remember Joe Torre as he appears in this superb framed photo that hung in the All-Star Suite -- in a number 9 Redbird uniform. Joe’s Cardinal days were worth remembering, Those six seasons (1969-74) were the most productive of his long career – especially his scintillating MVP season of 1971 when he racked up a .363 average with 24 homers and 137 RBIs. The photo of a grinning Joe gripping a bat slung over his left shoulder and anchoring two catcher’s mitts on the barrel earned its berth in the All-Star Suite -- Torre was on the National League squad in ’71, ’72 and ’73.
