This is a fantastic archive. Mostly old stuff, it dates from the 1920s to the 1950s (most 1930s-40s). It includes complete and unpicked files on the following: atomic power with some very early material and even a report on atomic energy in the USSR from 1963, Russian tanks (mostly 1920s and 1930s), general Russian military, Russian police women, farming with some beautiful images of the people, two American Rabbi's visiting Russia in August of 1956 to contact people of the Jewish faith, Russian Navy with great images of their ships and more going back to the 1920s. There are several amazing files entitled "People" that date from the 1910s to 1969. There is amazing stuff here from all walks of life. There is even a file of Russian women dating from the 1920s to 1950s It includes Russian beauties from the 1930s, Bolshevik women learning to read (1920s), and learning to fight (1930). There are also amazing individual images throughout the collection: the first tractors shipped to Russia (from the U.S.), 1920s Soviet policeman arresting bootlegger, the word's biggest atom smasher (1956), train workers with gas masks (1936), 1931 political prisoners, 1935 White Russians, trail of Trotsky's plotters, and so much more. Overall EX+, the size averages 7x9". Original paper captions and/or newspaper article affixed to versos. An incredible collection of images, that is essentially priceless. <br><p style="font-family:Arial; font-size:8pt; font-weight:normal; color:Black;"><strong>This lot is from the legendary San Francisco Examiner Archive (SFXArchive)</strong>.<br>This is one largest collections ever of historic vintage photos spanning the entire 20th century. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.</p>
