This is a glass plate negative of Jack Johnson sparring with Al Kaufman in an outdoor setting circa 1909. Kaufman was one of a group of fighters given the moniker, "The Great White Hope," as he was Jewish and quite good looking. Condition is EX+, from Dana Studios, the "Charles Conlon" of boxing photography. These 5x7" to 7x9" treasures represent the greatest find of their kind.
