A glass plate negative, this image shows Jack Johnson sparring with Al Kaufman in an outdoor setting circa 1909. Kaufman was one of a group with the moniker the "Great White Hope" as he was Jewish and quite good looking. Missing corner. From Dana Studios, the "Charles Conlon" of boxing photography, these 5x7" to 7x9" treasures represent the greatest find of its kind.
