Amazing Painting by Grant Powers for 1937 Carnival of Champions Program Cover
This gorgeous gouache on heavy artist’s board was used as the cover of the September 23, 1937 Carnival of Champions program. Barney Ross defended his welterweight title against Ceferino Garcia with Marcel Thil, Harry Jeffra and Pedro Montanez on the undercard of this famous bill. The quality of this work is magnificent and it is artist-signed by the great Grant Powers. The colors are sure to make your head spin. It is in EX-MT condition in its original frame, which measures 23x20” - the piece itself is only slightly smaller.
