Riva Ridge Derby Plate
This 1973 Kentucky Derby plate commemorates the Derby and features the winners from the preceding 10 years. The center of the plate features an engraving of Riva Ridge, the thoroughbred who won the '72 Derby. Engraved around the plate's perimeter are the winning horse's names and years: Riva Ridge, 1972; Canonero II, 1971; Dust Commander, 1970; Majestic Prince, 1969; Forward Pass, 1968; Proud Clarion, 1967; Kauai King, 1966; Lucky Debonair, 1965; Northern Dancer, 1964; Chateaugay, 1963. The verso of the plate features a small disc that reads "Hand crafted Damascene, by Reed & Barton. Kentucky Derby 1973 Limited Edition of 1500 - 440." The plate is silver-toned metal but there is no stamp to indicate what metal it is. It is framed and EX.
